China
The highlight amongst the sculptures, as in the whole auction, is a finely worked, large figure of Buddha Shakyamuni on a throne from the Ming period, 16th/17th century (Lot 44, 130.000). A further high point is an early and rare head of a luohan from the 13th/14th century. The 45 cm high wooden sculpture from the Song/Yuan dynasty is estimated at 35.000 (Lot 45). A large Buddha Amitabha of fire-gilt bronze from the Ming period is set at 30.000 (Lot 42).

The modern and contemporary paintings section offers a further highlight. Standing out amongst a small group of contemporary Chinese artists is an ink and colour painting from Wu Guanzhong, born 1919. His 67,6 x 68,5 cm Water Village carries an estimate of 40.000 (Lot 270). The artist belongs to the leading Chinese painters of the 20th century and is counted as one of the few artists of his generation who have established themselves in China as well as the West.

The decorative arts is dominated by a large bamboo brush pot, at 10.000 (Lot 148). A large cloisonné bowl from the second half of the 17th century has the same estimate (Lot 69). Alongside blue-and-white, famille verte and monochrome porcelain, a large number of later famille rose pieces will be offered in the 120 piece ceramic and porcelain section.
